best bang for buck suspension that is comparable to tein SS
hi guys
i've talk to a shop and i can get the Tein SuperStreet with pillow ball mount for 1210 shipped which is pretty reasonable as these stuff goes for like 1600 and 1800 with pillowball mount up here in toronto
i'm not a hardcore tracker, just gonna track maybe at most twice this summer... i'm a daily driver but looking to upgrade the performance in handling...
i've heard good about the Tein SS without doubt and i don't mind putting out a grand on suspension...
but i've also heard koni red are good shocks for half the price... can easily get a set for around 600. what springs are good for it? i'm looking for roughly 1.2-1.6 inch of a drop only.... still drivable on toronto roads (kinda bumpy but not the worst) on a daily basis in terms of spring rates....
so maybe if i get a decent set of springs for 200ish... and a good deal or 500-600 of koni... i can actually just be paying 800-900 with relative good performance close to the tein SS at 1210, then i can have some extra $$$ on sway bars and stuff

i hope you know koni's > tein in almost every respect.
and pillowball mounts don't really matter on our suspension setups

Tanabe and Function & Form have good coilover setups from the reviews I've seen... and if you are thinking of getting the TEIN SS w/ upper pillow mounts for $1210 shipped.. you can most likely get the Type Flex for a little over $100 more.. which would be better a better deal if you compare the 2..
another setup that a lot of people use and hold praise over is Koni Yellow stuts with Ground Control Coilovers.... and that setup can come around $800 roughly...

Re: best bang for buck suspension that is comparable to tein SS (t_dot_SiR)
Hey t_dot_SiR, I'm from Nova Scotia and wondering where you can get Tein SS's for 1210 shipped the lowest I have seen is the Tein SS's without pillowballs for 1370 shipped tax inc.
I f you could give me some info I would be really interested, as for the rest of your post I am in a similar position as you and I looked at the NEX GT's which I couldn't find a lot of reviews, what I read is they are a little stiff but seem to last and the KSports coilovers which seemed from reviews seemed to ride well until the blew seals right after the warranty ran out

IM them... they have 1210 shipped to toronto, so i don't see how its not to you
but i've changed my mind... i think i'm going for koni yellow + GC set up... plus the tein tends to rust easily unless you don't drive in the winter and store your car or remove them....

Re: (kdt3)
how are the function and form vs the koni yellow/ gc combo?
i know koni is one heck top of the line shocks because i ran koni on my civic before, i never tried gc, butt he review on gc are so damn good, i can't refuse to consider it...
so how are the F2?
i'm learning towards the follow
koni/gc
amr engineering fullcoilovers with custom rates

The last time i ran koni struts they lasted 6 months before they blew, not due to install or extreme drop.. just my experience with Koni being crap. Next time around im trying the Flex coilover kit,

Re: best bang for buck suspension that is comparable to tein SS (Chuckles99SH)
i think it all depends on which koni you're runnning...
if it was koni red, then its just comparable to OE but improved
koni yellow is a different thing as far as i heard
its like if you get tein basic, i heard it blows after 6-12 months of aggressive driving, but i don't heard much complaints about tein SS being blow...
so for any shocks, if you get their basic/entry level ones, there are always a chance of quality in anyway...
plus other than you, i haven't heard of one blown koni... so this is my first time...
but i've heard tons of ksports blown stories hahahahahah

for what you are describing, i really dont' think you need pilowball mounts. i have the tein ha wit pillow ball mounts and they make a TON of noise. not sure if the new ones do that though. if you just gte the tein ss w.o pilow ball mount it would be alot cheaper.
