how to fix air conditioner
hey i went to test drive a 94 eg si today and everything was immaculate except that the ac didn't work, the guy says that all i have to do is fill it up...what the hell does that mean??? he said i have to add the liquid or water?????sorry guys this is my first ac car so i'm dumbfounded
Go to your local autoparts store and they have little "AC in a can" type things. First read your manual to see what type of AC your car takes because theres like 4 different types. And then you just follow the instructions and you enjoy your AC.
if it blows but not cold it may just need to be charged which means putting freon in, i think thats like 60$-95$
if after a while it gets hott again and doesent blow cold air it need a new compressor.

The AC system uses refrigerant. Your car most likely uses the older stuff (R-12 or whatever), so you your best option is to get a retrofit kit from Honda or AutoZone and buying a can or two to refill the system.

wow...don't listen to any of these people thus far.
There could be a number of things...it may just need to be charged (if its a 94 i think you said) then most likely it'll use 134a. You can try to do it yourself...NEVER CHARGE ON THE HIGH SIDE!!!!!!
Also, buy 134a with flourscent dye in it!!! That way if there is a leak you'll be able to find it using a black light and glasses.
There shouldn't be any water in your a/c...I don't know what the hell he was thinking.
You're also going to need to put some mineral oil in it. Your refill kit will tell you how much.
Know what....if you've never done it before just take it to a shop so they can diagnos and get it done. Especially if you just bought it.

Honestly take it to a professional.. its worth the time and headache. given you dont know nothing about AC systems and using over the counter AC products you can destroy the AC system.
Ask for a discount on the car given the AC doesnt work.
And please do not do the typical add refergerant till it works.. It will damage the system
