Default Zc Horrid Idle HELP ***Descriptive***

So I have a sohc zc non vtec motor swapped into my 88 Crx Si

I start it up, and it immediately jumps to 2500rpm, stays there for about 2 minutes, then drops to around 1250, it held there for maybe 30 seconds and then it started jumping up and down from 1000 to about 2100, did this for about 6 minutes.

SO I sit in the car, NO CELS, I push the gas to get the rpm to around 2500 and hold it there, it holds fine and isnt jumping until I let go of the gas and it does the jumping idle again.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should be doing? I can tell I need a valve job pretty bad because you can hear them ticking quite nicely.

I also have a Pg7 Ecu, should I install this? I do have to go to emmissions soon though when I register the car in my name so I dont know if it will pass emiision with the PG7? or do I have to use a Pm6?

Any help appreciated. Ill also post a pic later of my throttle body because everyone says there is supposed to be a idle screw on the left hand side of the t/b but I cant find it so Ill post a pic in 3 or so hours when I get back from the shop

Thanks

the idle adj. screw is a flathead that is on the tb. i had the same problem because mine had backed out. i could hear a sucking noise when i turned the car off. put in a new one and it went away. prior to that i had one that was leaking and is probably why it backed out? i also got the old one to stop by screwing it in as far as i could withouyt killing the idle and was idling at 300 to 500 but it did not sugre anymore. if you still have the crx im then looking at the tb from the passenger side it'll be right on top and to the left a bit of the tb's air intake portthat the intake mounts to.

**** I hear a sucking noise when i turn the car off as well, Ive never had a car with an intake so I thought that was totally normal.

SO what do you mean it backed out? Like the screw unscrewed itself and fell somewhere? Just wanna know how you fixed it. And when you did this the surging idle went away?

If that's not it you may also want to check your IACV.

i had backed the screw out to adjust my idle. i backed it out too far and with engine vibrations it came all the way out. so now you are possibly not looking for a flathead screw but a open hole on the tb. it's part #1 in this link.

oops. so yeah i put a new one in luckily i had an extra and the problem is gone. if it's not all the way out on your car you might want to try some teflon tape. the screw has some grey rubbery stuff on it to help it stay put and it dry rots in the engine bay and wears off.
