ok so i am at the mall on friday night, i go to get in my car to leave and it turns over, and turns and turns but wont start. so my friend comes to jump me because i thought i left my dome light on, doesnt start..got some carb cleaner and it starts..but sounds like running on only 3 cylinders..check engine light comes on and reads misfire in cylinder one and random cylinder misfire ignition code. now it turns and turns when i start it in the morning, misfires till it warms up and then goes away, but check light remains not flashing, just there. so when i start it in the morning it will turn for about 10 seconds then it misfires till it warms up, sounds like a wrx and shakes alot, after it warms up it runs fine, ive checked the plugs, wires, cap/rotor..i ran it really low on gas that night and i thought maybe i sucked up gunk on the bottom of the tank and clogged injectors?? after the misfiring stops it idles at like 1k and jumps between 700-1k. i also did an intake manifold service on it to clean it out incase anything was in there. i have a 98 GSR just about stock except skunk2 IM, dont know if that has anything to do with it..anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance

 

you can def rule out the low gas/clogged injectors - have you done any work on it lately or did it just happen out of nowhere

 

check fuel filter and fuel pump

 

check timing or valve adjustments... loose or leaky valves run bad until they warm up.

yea i put gas in it..and i sprayed carb cleaner in it to get it started, intake manifold service to clean out all the crap inside there and the head. havent tried valve adjustment or checked the timing, but if the timing was off it would misfire the whole time and not just when its cold..right? but yea im at work now so get back to me asap my car is going to blow up

 

I was having the same problems....Only mine started after I installed the streetlite flywheel....after it was installed I noticed my car would shut-off everytime I slowed to a stop... I took it in for service and come to find out im loosing 60% compression in 2 cylinders due to some bent valves.

 

Make sure your spark plugs are plugged in the right order.

 

Sounds like it may be a leaky injector.
