im trying to change my axle, and i cant get the side on the trani out. ive tryed like 4 diffrent pry bars and it wont come out. i already ripped the boot and only the end part is left in the trani.

i need to get this done within a hour! please help asap

Have you tried hitting the pry bar with a sledgehammer? It's worked for me every time.

comeone people! if i dont have my car running within a hour im fucked! ibe tryed EVERYTHING and it wont come out. im about to pull my need axle apart and get a new boot and use the stock part!

Well, If you are prying between the tranny casing and inner axle hub... and you have rotated/shakened the thing enough... and put MAX force on it IT HAS TO COME OUT! Ive done axles 4 times now and 2 times they were a bit stubborn, but with alot of jiggle and alot of force I have never had one not pop out.

I really have no advice but to keep trying... Hope things work out, I hate being pressed for time. Good Luck

 

Is the axle you are pulling at OEM Honda or aftermarket? Some aftermarket companies put (by poor design) a larger snap ring which makes it more difficult to remove. If you use a hefty pry bar, it should come out. Dont use an over size flat head screw driver because that will not work. Get some bigger meats behind that pry bar!

 

a prybar and a hammer is all that we can really suggest...i dont think youre going to find a miracle cure from anyone here.

 

sorry for being in a rush earler, no its a autozone rebuilt axle and i still cant get it out. ive tryed useing lots of diffrent things to get it out and it wont budge.

i have a pry bar that is about 1" thick and its bending with all the pressure i put on it. i tryed hammers, i tryed pushing on it with my feet.

i gave up earler and got a ride from a friend.

looks like i got my work cut out for me tomaorw

 

I had this same problem My car would shudder at about 3krpm+ so I went in to get the axles replaced..... And the mechanic shop told me they couldnt get one of the axles outta the dif. Well, it turned out my dif. had "dropped" inside the case and I was fucked.... had to replace the whole dif. 3 different shops couldnt get it out....... so maybe thats what happened to you???

well i just spent another hour trying to get it out and it WONT come out, any more advice?

 

ok well i pulled the new axle apart and stuck it togher with the stick part and it fit, but it makes a fucked sound now!

any other ideas? i really dont wana pay a shop to do this

 

i bought the car with the problem and the guy i bought it from said that it starts gradually, and the car may not feel any different until the damage is all the way done.

 

you may have to suck it up and bring it to a shop.
