Cause it's made by DC Sports. Most people tend to have the feeling that DC product quality has gone... well... to hell to put it mildly. Ask most Prelude guys what they think about their DC headers, then duck for cover.
I actually know someone that snapped their DC short shifter.

oh... i heard that about the OBX ones.... I don't think a lot of people have ever heard of the Pure Racing SS.. is that a generic brand?
Ok.. so can you tell me the difference between a short shift adapter and a regular short shifter? What exactly does the adapter do? And which one would be better to get?

OBX makes crap, period. Pure Racing is a company that is now defunct and I don't think there are any plans to make more of their shifter adapters.
All short shift kits for the prelude are adapters (as of now). The adapters simply move the shift likage cables to shorten the throw. Adapters have some drawbacks because the cables rub on the console and shift boot and they can make shifting a little more difficult.
Now C's would make a complete short shifter (not an adapter an entire shifter) for the 5g prelude if they could get 25 people to go in on it, but it's $2-300 (I think it's $250 if we get 25 people). Everyone I've ever talked to that owns a C's kit is more than happy with it though. Personally I would trade my pure racing adapter for a C's kit anyday.
