Sorry to hear that.
Had the same thing happen to the DC shifter I had in my CRX.
I'm using the B&M short shifter in my 2000 Si.
SUPER short! Almost too short.
B&M claim a 54% reduction in the Civics, but it feels like more.
The Skunk2 is made of steel, like the B&M, not from aluminum like the DC.
No matter which you chose, they are both better than the DC, IMO.
You'll break something else before you snap either one.
Hope this helps

I use B&M race version one, it is shorter than regular short shifter. But after a while, you get use to it and thinks it is normal.
They have been making short shifter for a long time, I think they know what they are doing.

Yea..I say go for a B&M...I had one on my EM1 for a while it was awesome. Very short, and it's a straight shifter. excellent quality too

Regardless of which shifter you choose, make sure you check/replace the plastic sleeve the shifter sits in. This piece split on my CRX and caused the DC to bind.
Resulting in my breaking it.
I bought the B&M Race shifter so I wouldn't have to deal with this problem.
The newer C's shifter are similar in design.
Expensive? Yes, but worth the money.

Re: (Elisha481982)
elisha it isnt THAT bad. i had it for about 2 years year and half of it was on my ex, just put it on my si last month... while i had it i loved it... i mean it did it a little further forward but nothing rediculous, but anyways i ordered a skunk2 dual bend, we'll see how long this one lasts...
