turbo on sohc (fuel milage)
I ran the GReddy kit on my D16Y8. Mods are on my webpage. AFA fuel mileage. . . .
5 psi, blue box--26 mpg combined freeway/city
5-10 psi, AFC hack--26 mpg combined freeway/city
Oh, and I wrote "5-10 psi" because the HKS manual boost controller I was using with the hack setup was sporadic. One of the valves inside was kind of broken.
So even if it was set at 10 psi, sometimes it wouldn't do anything, and the boost would be regulated by the WG. Other times it would work.
But the weird thing was, no matter how hard I drove my car, I always got 26 mpg. I always thought that was kind of strange. (And yes, I can do math.

Stop feeling sorry about it. Help yourself by searching for the answer to your question because after you stated something here about the Forced Induction forum, I checked your thread. It's been what, 3 or so hours since you posted it? Have some patience or help yourself.

It's nice to hear my gas mileage isn't going to hell like everyone says. Here's another question. I sit in about 2-3 hours of traffic going between 20-40mph. The flow of traffic speeds and slows erratically. What kind of stress does that do to my manual '93 Si and Greddy turbo? Will I have problems in the long run?

as long as you don't sit in traffic at 8000 rpm, you're ok...

I agree. I commuted DAILY in my boosted Y8 during 100-degree summers in stop-and-go traffic and never overheated or anything.

The Greddy turbo is air cooled. Get a water cooled turbo. Get the intercooler. Greddy kit with the intercooler cost about the same as the Edelbrock, which is a real turbo kit.
Low boost properly tuned will get better mileage than stock.

You should visit the forced induction forum more often or search out more reliable sources before posting this information.
The price of a Greddy kit is far less costly than the Edelbrock kit. Despite the lack of accessories of the Greddy kit it doesn't make it any less of a kit than the Edelbrock. It's a less costly kit without some of the added frills. What constitutes a real turbo kit? Air cooler or water cooled the Greddy kit is effective enough to serve it's purpose, while being reliable as well as cost efficient.
I'm not even going to argue the low boost gas mileage versus stock gas mileage, I would just like to see some documenation to back such a statement.

I had the Greddy 15g kit on my 97 Civic EX automatic. I commute 20 miles each way, some highway and city driving also hilly and I averaged 31 mpg. This is pretty good since the auto sucks for gas mileage.
