Default Changing from 1st to 2nd

Anyone ever experienced a lag around 6,000 rpm when shifting from 1st to 2nd when you race change? I experience this whenever I change at 7,500 rpm in first gear. The rpm would fall back to 6,000 but it would just stay there like forever - weird. It doesn't seem to want to pull anymore rpm after changing to 2nd. 1st gear rushes to 8,000 rpm no problem. It seems like the engine is going on the rev limiter but yet it's not. It's a turbo H22A prelude by the way.

possibly a slipping clutch, mine is doing the same thing and my clutch is on its last leg.

Get the car going about 35 mph, then put it in 5th gear and mash the throttle. Your rpms should increase with your speed. If it revs before you start accelarating then your clutch needs replaced.

However, if your clucth isn't slipping that bad this test may not work. Mine would exhibit the same symptoms you described but wouldn't slip using this test, until recently.
