i don't see why it shouldn't. it is the wiring harness and ecu, intended for the motor.
what type of common sense question??? or were you trying to get at something else?

yea there both from a 00si, but i keep on hearing that its gonna have some prob. and that the cel is gonna be on and theres no 02 semsor, i dunno a whole bunch of stuff, i just wanna know from anyone w/some experience

"You can swap the 99-00 Si in a 96-98 EK and use the 99-00 Si engine harness and ecu but you will have some problems"
thats what i got from the 6 Gen EK Swap Guide 101 https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=650230

You will be fine. You can always convert to OBD1 too.

Have either of you two done this?

If you really want to use the stock ECU (I assume we're talking about the 99-00 Si), the easiest way is gonna be to keep your stock wiring harness, add wires as needed for VTEC and such, and then get an OBD2b-OBD2a adapter harness.

If you have an Ex model, your job becomes a lot easier....the wires are already there.

Another thing that you'll encounter though is the distributor wiring. It seems 96-98 used a 9 pin connector while 99-00 used an 8 pin connector (which lacked the Blu tach wire).

your gonna have to use your 97 sohc engine harness

USE THE ENGINE HARNESS THAT CAME WITH YOUR CAR!! ALWAYS!! if you do this forever, you will no be plagued with unknown electrical problems.

I'm assuming you have a dx or cx and if so do some searching, your gonna have to re-wire/re-pin the iacv, its easy. you might have to lengthen some wires, thats easy too.

you will have to run vtec, oil pressure, knock sensor wires to the ecu and re-pin them, see if you can get some ecu plugs from the junkyard and just cut one of the plugs off and use it for your conversion.

good luck

Why not just use your 96-98 civic harness and a vtec ecu.

if it is an ex you will be all right, if its a Dx you would have to do wiring.... knock, vtec, and IACV.....the Si ecu you wont be able to use because its OBD2b.... now what I did is use a GSR ecu, and later on converted to OBD 1
