As the title specifies, I've got an R with 33K that I acquired at 25k and it's time to put on some grippier pads for autocross (D Stock, TIR). The car is my daily driver (no complaints here!) and I need some input on resurfacing the rotors. Is is totally necessary for optimal modulation on a stock car even if I don't feel any fluctuation in pedal pressure?
Lastly, any pad recommendations? I know I'll do business with Cobalt, but the choices seem endless.

Go ahead and get Autozone or Brembo blank rotors, they are cheaper than pads are!
Cobalt definitely rocks, for Autox Id go with Axxis Ultimate or the Cobalt GT-Sports.

if you feel no pulsation in the pedal then you dont have to have them machined. just sand them down yourself before you install the new pads so you dont get the record effect.
resurface the rotors if your putting new pads in so you can bed them correctly.
Or just get some new ones.
*You can't sand rotors down... but you can sand down brake pads.

SAND THE ROTORS. i do them at work all the time. trust me. you dont need to machine them if they arent warped. sand them so they dont have a record player effect and the pads will seat correctly automatically. if you dont sand them and slap them on they will get the record effect.
thats what i would do. ive been doing it alot.
its up to you.
let us kno.

warped disks are BS... read this:
http://stoptech.com/whitepaper...h.htm
go to autozone and buy new rotors. ask for a 95 acura legend GS rotor. will be 25$
then bed the new pads in using the above info from stoptech.

Thanks for all the information guys. Buying new rotors was as option I was indeed thinking of. Ultimately, I want the brakes to grab like a pitbull's bite so the new rotor option might be something to follow through on. BTW, I'm thinking of the Axxis pads after doing a little searching on H-T.
Autozone actually lists the rotors for our ITR's in their computer, so you don't have to ask for Legend GS rotors any longer. Got a new pair just a few weeks ago. I also sanded the rears with emory cloth when I installed the new rear pads. Who says you can sand rotors....puh-leeze
lol.
lol.

I'm currently running Autozone blanks and Axxis Ult. Good set-up. The pads do dust like crazy, though. So if you've got white rims, get ready for some cleaning.

Cut? Is that slang for machined or something?

At our shop we never sand down the rotors because you can't really sand it down evenly. As for the brake pads i lay down the sanding strip on a flat table and run them across in one direction.

Cool. That's what I figured.
Any recommendations on super grippy pads with minimal dust. Scrubbing the wheels every week is no fun.
