Default B18C Head Conversion

Im driving a 95 Integra Special Edition...1.8 L Non V-TEC...all i have on the engine right now is an AEM Cold Air Intake...and soon ill be getting full exhaust. so im thinking of doing a B18C Head swap and staying with the Non VTEC block, and stock transmission cuz it seems to be the quickest way to make my car significantly faster without getting a turbo setup (cuz i dont have the money for a turbo)...is this a common conversion? and is it a good idea? what are some better ideas?

It's a very common conversion called LS/VTEC. Please properly research this topic as virtually every question you can possible ask has already been answered numerous times.

I found a used V-TEC Head with 80K for $450 Bucks...ive never seen a turbo kit for less than 1,000...how would it be the same money? Granted, if i was to rebuild the head once i got it, itd be significantly more money...i would still think a turbo would be more expensive.

The cost will be less than a proper turbo setup, but still more than just the price of a VTEC head. Again, research the conversion, and you'll have a better understanding of just what it involves.

I wouldnt worry about getting a GSR or ITR head.. there not much different from the B16A heads..

I would pick up B16 head, keep the extra money and buy Throttle body, or Intake Manifold.. aftermarket

Neways, yeah, I think I paid about $2000 US for my setup, 195 hp, 158whp..its definently a lot less then a turbo setup would be, Ive researched it for months..

In the end your going to probably going to look at building it, the most Ive seen out of any LS/VTEC is about 210WHP..N/A

Good luck with your setup, if you have any questions just pm me..

Another question about the conversion...
With the Vtec head, what would i have to do software/computer wise?

i'm also new at this honda-tech thingy. I've heard too much rumors about ls/vtec messin up the motor after 20k or so, is this true? They said something like the ls block couldn't take it so oil starts leaking all over.

okay, the cost for everything in an ls/vtec will be very close to the price of a turbo set-up:
complete vtec head (distributor, IM,TB)=$600 USD
OBD-1 Vtec ecu $175
ARP head and rod bolts $175
ACL rod bearings $50
GSR water pump, oil pump, timing belt $175
you'll probably want high compression pistons (eg, pr3, p30) $280 with rings
gasket set $150
what am i forgetting here......I think that's most of it. good cams and valve springs (eg. ITR) would be another $500 USD used

The install, if you aren't doing it your self add $400 or so USD.

You can add it up, this set-up should be good for around 180 whp (with cams), maybe less, maybe more, depends on tuning.
