Is the Minime a Direct bolt in, on a rex????
The engines are the same series? Right? WEll if anyone knows or has done it I would love to hear if it was a str8 up swap and how fast they are running. I am looking to do an EASY swap no effort for a Quick daily driver. I already have aproject GSR and thats enough project car for me
I believe a"Minime" is a SOHC VTEC head on your block w/an external oil line run from your block to the head and some wiring changes + a way to activate VTEC.It would be easier to swap in a SOHC VTEC motor in.It bolts right in(slot the drivers side motor mount holes-top only, maybe). The motor will bolt up to your tranny-new clutch woul be agood idea-modify your distributor to fit(again slot a hole or two)and add some wires and a way to activate VTEC....Hybrid has all the info-double check there for more detail-I have a B16a in mine.
I did a mini-me swap on my 89 Civic Si. Yes, any D16Z6 head or D16Y8 head will directly bolt up. The best choice being a D16Y8 head because your distributor will bolt directly up. With the D16Z6 head will need to slot two of the bolt holes for it to fit. But a D16Z6 head will be cheaper. You will NOT need an external oil line to the head. After the swap, I definitely felt a difference in power, but nothing huge. The top end pulls more. I haven't taken my car to the strip yet, but it would probably run a mid 15 to low 15 if I'm lucky. Let me know if you have any more questions.
cool... what head/dizzy did you use? how old was your block that you put the head on? i'm contemplating the idea of a y8 head on a a6 block with 138000 miles on it. i'm not sure if i'm going to do it or just do a built up a6. i'm always one to be different tho... heh thanks for the reply...
