Please tell me what you think of motor's compression, Got me worried
Hello everyone, I just have a quick ? for you if you don't mind. My car use to have the following compression for all cylinder: 1,2,3,4 of 230's accross the board. Now, the #1 cylinder had drop to 220. is there a sign of problem with the #1 cylinder? the reason I ask is I got the engine overheated today and did not know about it until I got the gauge cluster installed. I did not have the gauge cluster in the car because I took out the dash out when i took it to the shop to get some body work done and I had installed a 10 pt. roll cage in it. So I drove it home and couldn't tell how the engine was doing. I got home and I heard like a boiling water sound under the hood and noticed that my fan did not came on. Sorry for the long story but I hope you know what i'm saying. Thanks so much.

So I should not worry about this then? my idle is kind of funny as well. it use to idle like stock, now is like wants to die off for a second.
I will try to listen to it early tomorrow and see if it's sound like a miss. At first, I found one fitting off my manifold that was not plugged. I don't know why it was not plugged up. I took the car to the shop and took them over 3 months to get the car ready for paint. maybe the cap that I put on there cracked and feel off, but i don't know for sure so I put a new one there and it got better but not all of it. I'll be looking for some vacuum leak tomorrow as well and see if I can find any. thank for the help. Anyone had this problem too? I'm afraid to boost her higher now cause it may do some damage iether to the head or the block. Set up of the car:
LS bottom 84mm bore
built bottem end w/ GE sleeves
built b16a head w/ Ferrea valvetrain

as long as your cylinders arn't varying more than like 20 psi with one cylinder to another, don't worry about it man. Its healthy.

I've heard its a difference of 10. Just check for vacuum leaks and go from there. Just narrow it down one thing at a time and you'll eventually figure it out. So you don't have any idea of how hot the car got? I mean how long was it overheating and how hot are we talking?
My buddy drove his talon when it overheated and he warped the **** out of pretty much everything. He also drove it for like 20 minutes when the temp was above 200 degrees. Reached around 230 if I remember what he said correctly. He wanted to get just make it home and he paid the price. However, the car was back on the road again a week later...all they did was replace the temp gauge that popped. But he had definately lost some power, I don't think your problem is near as bad as his but I was just wondering if you knew how long it was overheating and how hot your engine was....you may be alright. Your numbers aren't bad or anything. Just keep narrowing down the problem, keep us updated
