Default obd1 conversion problem

hey all, I got a 97 gsr and I connected my obd1 ecu, and right when it reaches about 4800-5000 rpms, it sputters like crazy. Is there more involved to do an obd1 conversion?

dont know much about the conversion becuase I already have a 95 gsr with obd1 Why do OBDII people wanna convert it into obd1 unless you plan on chipping it. But if your mods are only basic bolt ons why even convert ecu's? I just dont get why people hate obd2 so much...

does your rpm bounce around that rpm range and fall flat to zero when tryin to rev past it?

I am boosting so yes, I need to chip it but I just decided to test it out. No, it doesnt fall flat to zero, just sputters and barely goes up. I don't want to try it again in case it ***** something up ...

you connected an OBD1 ecu directly into your OBD2 wiring harness or you're using a jumper to connect it? hopefully you know this, but you can't just plug an OBD1 ECu into an OBD2 car without a jumper

Did you try a different OBDI ecu? Sounds like a VTEC engagment problem. Are you running GSR or ITR intake man? What ECU are you using? I'd fault the ECU from where I'm sitting.

also, if the ECU isn't from a GSR and you're using the stock intake manifold, your secondary butterflies won't open b/c the ECU isn't programmed to do so
