Default 3rd Gear slipping?

I posted earlier about my frined's 95' GSR teg with Type R enigne, and he has a stock GSR tranny, but for some reason if he trys to shift into 3rd quickly it slips. His friend suggested to pick up a bottle of synchro - mesh? He's been looking for some, but what exactly is it, and will it help this problem? He's looking into getting a new tranny, but until then, will this stuff help it?

Thx again

We did that many times last night, went from 3 or 4,000, and slammed it to 8 or 8500, and it was fine, but it's only after slamming it and going into 3rd? I'll find out more.

Thx guys
