2nd 3rd and sometimes 4th grind when im shifting. It isnt all the time but most of the time. The guy i bought the car from said it was the shift linkage that was customized but not too good. Should I try and locate a new shift linkage or could it be other?(Synchros, tranny bad etcc..>?

 

Sounds like either syncro's or clutch not engaging fully. You can find the gear fine right? If so, then id look at the tranny for the problem. Maybe the "custom" shift linkage stripped the syncros over time from improper engagement and forced gear finds, probably tranny problems, but a long shot could be your clutch...

 

Try using GM Synchromesh in your tranny.

actually finding them can be off sometimes. The whole shift is very loose and find myself thinking im in nuetral when im in some other gear. Thats why i was thinking it was the linkage cause it just isnt tight like it should be.

How about he fixes the problem first? You think just adding super juice to his tranny will fix broken syncros and hardware issues? What if his setup is incorrect and now he thinks $20 bucks worth of oil will be his end all fix for this problem?

Check your linkage, compare it to a stock, proper one... Make sure of the alignment and check your clutch.

what will that do as far as my problem? As in it has to be more than just that.. thanks though
