it has a 99 si head but doesnt seem to be pulling as hard as it should. but from what everyone is telling me is that you need to build the bottom end first to get some results.

I will be almost no help but make sure that the engine is running perfect and at it's full power before you do any upgrades.

The GSR, dual runner manifold is definitely more quiet, but if you have an aftermarket intake and/or exhaust on the car, you should be able to hear it.
Do you have any ecu error codes indicated? If so, check them out, and fix them.

If not try hard wiring the vtec solenoid with a switch directly to 12v. Have someone turn nn the switch or connect the wires when you are driving and the engine is at the proper Vtec RPM and see if you can hear it. This is just to verify that Vtec is switching or not.

Problems that can prevent Vtec from engaging are low oil, level,
low oil pressure, or the ecu not seeing a speed sensor signal.

It's really tough to diagnos your problem since you're not sure that you have one.
Good luck!

im running a b16 head off a 99si the intake manifold is from the same vehicle as well. As for CAI i use the stock honda air box, for the exhaust im running a es oval muffler w/ mandrel bend piping (2.5) its pretty quiet. Im not sure how to check the ecu codes and the wiring... this is the part that i get lost...

oh yeah oil pres and oil are fine.
