Can you use only 1 ply of the factory Honda head gasket successfully to raise the compression.Does anyone know if it raises it as much as the Mugen.Will it just fail pre-maturely?

 

I have taken the middle layer out of a friends stock head gasket. It doesn't raise compression much, but every little bit helps. It takes about 8 thousandths out of the head gasket. His car is still running strong today. Still good compression.

 

i wouldn't use less than a 2-ply. one of our guys tried using just 1 ply of the gasket and had some sealing problems. since he has used 2 and it's nice and tight.
