Alright fellow h22 guys, me and a buddy are having a disagreement. First it started with a built LS turbo will make more torque than a built h22 block. Then he says that an LS turbo will make more power than a h22 turbo. I am sticken with the h22. He says that the ls with the same amount of things done will make more power and torque. I disagree, but neither of us really have enough facts to prove either one wrong. Help me prove him wrong guys.

 

im not sure what kinda arguement is that...since i mean it really depends what you do but I am preety sure that if you do the same to both the h22 would put out more torque no matter what because it has more displacement...im not sure how to answer how much hp the h22 can make though...with the right things done to it i would guess 4000hp hah...

 

there's more potential with the h22a if the engine is built. weak ringlands are the h22a's biggest weakness against the b18b. B18b can handle more boost with stock bottom end.

but to answer the question, if both are tuned by great tuners and both had the same modifications, the h22a would win.

 

HAHA see thats what I am trying to tell him that if they were both full built and had same setups the h22 would produce more hp and torque but he says no. Guys got any facts to help support it? Then since I was kinda winnen the arguement he started to say that a built turbo ls/vtec would make more power than a built turbo h22 with same mods. Im still sticken to the H22. Think about it. a fully built 1.8 turbo, vs a 2.2 fully built turbo, hmmmm. just the displacement should tell you something there. if an LS/turbo was in a hatch, and an h22 turbo with the same setup was in the same hatch, what do you think would happen ?

 

I totally agree, he wants facts, I guess dyno sheets. What about built ls/vtec turbo vs built turbo h22?

 

like i had stated before. bigger displacement. with the same setup on each motor the h22 will put out more power. unless you stroke the ls to a 2.0 or something nutty. its just common sense. look at it like this 1.8 vs 2.2 . if both have the same mods 2.2 all the way, its a DUH factor.

 

ls turbo vs a h22 turbo ohhh i get it this must be a retared test obviously your friend never been in a h22 turbo,just for the record ive beaten built ls turbos with a bone stock h22 turbo hatch at 12 psi cant even compare the torque

I remember seeing a website/shop that had a built H23 VTEC Prelude that dyno'd at either 700-800 horsepower.

Wish I could find that site........

 

700 whp is not a problem with a built turbo h22,h series makes alot of power once you build them its pretty hard to compare a b seiries to them as far as hp and torque its kind of like the b18 to the b20 wich is 2 point bigger and you feel a big difference now go 4 points bigger to the h22

 

ask your friend why pappadakis ran an h22a instead of an LS engine....

 

tru yaa he was making that as a point too. He said how come none of the big guys use h22 motors. I really didnt know what motors they used so I didn't say.

 

prob cause there is more knowledge in the b series but as time goes on youll see more and more papadakis had one and broke records hp racing had one and broke records with it know jojo has one and im sure he will be breaking records also

Wow thats crazy!! I heard SFP down by Miami made built one that was dynoeing over 800 hp but I have never seen any dyno sheets. They brought it up to Moroso at the last show. It was in a red eg hb.
