Default B20B VTEC QUESTIONS

Hey, I am about to buy a B20 long block and a B18C1 head to put on it. What I was wondering was what tranny should I use? I can get a B18A/B/C or a B16A, I was thinking of going with just the B18A/B because its the cheapest. What would you recomend I should buy? and whats the differences in the trannys? Thanks. Also anyone else out there done this swap have any HP figures? Thanks

Do not use a nonVTEC tranny, you'll totally defeat the purpose of doing the swap. Just think, a straight LS motor revs to ~6800rpm and has a 1st gear that will allow you ~35mph, a VTEC motor is setup with a tranny to do the same mph in 1st but at 1200-1600rpm higher. Only thing it's good for is a low rpm cruise on the freeway but if you want that just toss a LS 5th in a VTEC tranny. We don't even use nonVTEC trannies on our high boost turbo cars. Go with a GSR, ITR, or 2000 Si tranny.
