i got my car aligned today and i was just wondering if this was a good enough camber in the front so my tires dont wear out a lot. heres what i got:

f/l:camber -1.2
f/r:camber -1.7
my rears are at 1.6 i just did that using the washer trick. so is this fine?

that's over twice what would be considered OK......with those settings, you'll eat up the inner part of the tire on the front.....if you're back are +1.6 TOTAL, then that's ok.....if they're +1.6 each, then they'll possibly wear the outer edge.....


toe will determine how much, but if your toe is at 0" like it should be, then they're gonna wear pretty bad....

 

get a camber kit and have those numbers between -.1 and -.2 y0!

What are you talking about? Running 0 toe will negate the wear from a larger amount of camber.

I run almost 3 degrees with pretty much no tire wear because my toe is 0.
Just make sure the shop runs you at absolute 0 toe (not just somewhere within honda specs) and if you don't do burnouts all the time, that camber will be just fine.

 

It's not that bad. I think people are over exgerrating how bad they will wear your tires. If your toe is set to 0 you shouldn't see too bad of tire wear if any at all.

 

in my experience, it also has to do with the treadwear rating of the tires, but for an EK, front camber is supposed to be 0 deg. and the rear is supposed to be at -1

Nah, I didn't. What can I say, it's a badass avatar. Lots of people have the same avatars on here. If I knew how to resize pics so that they would fit avatars I would change it. Otherwise the only way I know how to make avatars is by using someone else's.

nah, that's bullshit.......99% of fwd cars will call for 0" toe with STOCK SPECS.........positive toe will HELP offset negative camber, but you're still gonna get wear unless you rotate them VERY FREQUENTLY, and zero toe is not positive toe.....so no real offsetting being done.......and that's if you're running non-directional tires....with directional tires, you can't cross them to the back and that will make them wear more as well.......

there really is no need to run that much negative camber on a street car because

1) wet weather handling is greatly sacrificed......much smaller contact patch
2) even dry weather traction is sacrificed everywhere but a tight curve
3) tires will wear i guarantee it......

show me pics of your wheels/tires, should be bowed out pretty bad with that type of camber.....and with zero toe, you're gonna wear tires, i promise it

and yes, i did alignments for a living for a few years.......learned most of it from my dad who happened to be ranked 1 or 2 by goodyear as the nation's top alignment specialist for a decade.......then he started some of his own businesses (i ran two stores as well), and happened to be a certified master mechanic on top of that........he knew his **** and so do i..........good enough for me

As long as your camber is within -1 to -2 degrees, and as long as both fronts and both rears are equal to eachother, you should be fine.

 

if the inside of your tire is bearing more of a load than it should, then it will wear......not to mention that when you sit in the car the left side will drop more, usually around .4 more degrees negative for an average person......weak springs will drop more......so that's -3 degrees total camber on the front.......it's gonna wear
