Default CSF aluminum single row race radiator review

I was a little psyched about receiving this thing. However when I opened it, I was a bit disappointed. Compared to the Fluidyne that I had on my Mustang, the quality appearance was lacking in the CSF unit. So I thought, ok function over form...its how it performs that matters, right?

Installation was about as straight forward as any, but there were some minor issues with fitment. First off the drivers side electric fan did not allow the use of factory bolts. It was such a tight fitment to get the fan in place that I just slid the factory bolts in the holes and that seems to be holding it in place fine for now. The second issue was that the placement of the filler neck is so close to the front of the car that installing the radiator cap was a real pain.

Coolant temperatures seemed to be normal. I noticed no decrease in temperatures. Being all aluminum it should perform better than stock in actual competition use, and I don't have to worry about plastic end tanks.

Overall I would have liked it to look less shiny and to have better quality welds and such. Other than that I have nothing negative to say so far.

More pics can be seen here.

That's the racing series 2 1/4 inch radiator. What did you expect. It was meant for racing. Also is that a leak? or just left over stuff you wanted to make the picture look bad.

Also with coolent and tempature. You shouldn't be using 50/50 or even 60/40 mixture. Maybe a 90/10 with water wetter. Unless you live in cold weather, even then I would just flush when that season comes around.

I don't know the company in any way shape or form but I use their racing radiator on 2 of my race cars and never had ANY problems from them. If you don't like it they will usually take the stuff back from you (minus I think 10% restock).

Not a leak, just left over stuff so that the picture would look bad. =P

Really? I called the place I purchased it from, radiatorbarn.com, they recommended normal 50/50 stuff. Guess I'll go drain some fluid and add some more water. This is not for a race car, but for my daily driven bastard that sees ~8 autocrosses a year, and hopefully a few HPDE's.
