Default H22A4 info...

I recently finished a 2001 H22A4 swap into a 2000 civic EX. We also have a 95 Del Sol with 93 H22. When driving the del sol, I can hear and feel VTEC kick but in the civic I can't. Tested the solinoid and hooked up a test light to see if it's working and it is. My question to you guys with the H22A4, can you feel or hear VTEC at 5200 or is it so smooth you can't tell the difference? Thanks in advance.

it should sound much the same...esecially if you have an intake on it

In my experience the VTEC is a little louder on the A1 motor becaue it usually engages earlier and te secondaries open earlier

If you can't hear it, it's probably not working

I agree with Joel, if you have to question whether or not VTEC is kicking in on an H22 then it most likely is not engaging....

I have a 5th gen and I can definitelty feel and hear the VTEC kick in. My car is all stock and when it hits VTEC it sounds like a whole new exhaust system.

Any ideas why VTEC wouldn't work if the signal is for sure being sent from the ECU, the solinoid clicks when a 12v source is applied to it, and everything else works?

Does the signal ever get sent if oil pressure is down? Or does it get sent regardless and VTEC only engages when pressure is up?

eahhh rolling 3rd or 4th on the freeway from low RPM's into vtec might not be so loud and crazy. but from like 1st into second into 3rd should be screamin.

I have a h22a4 in my hatch back and you definitely can hear and feel the vtec, but its much smoother then the h22a...

If you dont have vtec oil pressure then the ecu wont send the signal

If you dont have CEL then maybe your vtec solonoid is just clogged... some other people on the forum got their vtec back by just cleaning out the screen
