Default Turbo air inlet placement....

I'm wondering how much of a difference it makes on where I place my air filter for the turbo inlet on my 99 Integra.

I see some people just have it clamped right to the turbo, other have a pipe ending behind the headlight. Right now, I have a short 90deg pipe and have the filter between the rad fan and the valve cover on the passenger side. Would it make a difference if I ran it down where it can get some cold air??

My belief is that colder air will always help some. But most dont bother because the intake charge is intercooled anyways.
