Default Getting my transmission rebuilt in a week.

Ok, since transmissions aren't my thing (yet) and I have no third gear synchronizer anymore I need to get the whole thing rebuilt -- I'm sure there's a lot more that should be replaced at this point. 95 Prelude S (just a plain ol' f22a in it -- for the time being ).

When the tranny gets done I'm thinking of having a Clutch Master Stage 1 clutch kit and stage 1 fly wheel installed as well.. Would it really be worth it? With a F22A it's not like I'm going to race it at any point. I'll save that for after the JDM engine swap . But I wouldn't mind much better shifting / clutch performance. I'm also planning on installing a DC Sports short shifter adapter If I get the clutch and flywheel.

So would the performance be worth it at this point? Or should I just wait a few months when I do an engine swap (and maybe even a tranny swap, depending on the engine I go with)

How much were they talking about to rebuild the tranny?

why don't you just do the whole jdm h22 swap right now
instead of wasting money on the f22 if you plan on swapping
it out anyway?

The difference of about ~$2400 I *need* the tranny done now so I'm willing to put out the cash to do it. just for the rebuild should be between $1000 and $1800 depending on what needs to be replaced. toss in ~$600 for the clutch kit and fly wheel and that's about the max i have to spend right now.

I should be able to keep the save transmission if I drop in an H22A right? It's the same tranny type and as far as I've read it should mount up and connect correctly. Someone stop me if I'm wrong here. As I've said, I'm not a tranny guy so I'm just going my the facts I can gather.

Yep your current tranny will fit. But you will not achieve the same accelaration as with H22 tranny due to longer gears.

Your labour prices are killing me BTW. I could have it done here for like 400$ with parts But I don't need yet

$400?! Where *is* here exactly?! Maybe you're not that far away from me and I can go elsewhere for a transmission rebuild I like $400 more than a possible $1800!

No way
I'm THAT far from you for sure
Look at my info. I'm European. But I'm sure it would be even cheaper to send a gearbox here, fix a synchro and send it back... It will still be less than a grand And all labour made by a certified Honda guy.

I don't think I would pay to get an F22a tranny rebuilt...I would just buy another...or buy an H22a tranny...it would be a blast to drive with the shorter gear ratios...highway driving would be a little high in the rpms though in 5th gear.

Anyone know where i can get a cheap H22A tranny that won't need to be rebuilt in the next year or two?

And exactly how *high* would the rpms be in 5th gear at say 85 mph?

Just buy another cheap F22 tranny for a few hundred bucks; since they also came in the Accord's, there are plenty of them out there.

Take the money saved and put it towards a full H22 swap.

Ok, know of any places to get one of *those* for cheap? Besides junk yards -- since i'm not having luck finding 4th gen preludes (or suitable accords). It really doesn't matter to me what path I take to get this done. It just has to be done in about a month so I can have the emissions test done. Other wise I would just go with a 3rd gear until I had the cash for the H22 and new tranny..
