After swap, a lot of chatter coming from transmission/clutch
Swap went down last summer, but it kind of just clicked with me that there's a good chance my tranny isn't bad, just somethings not right.
I had the swap done by people who reached out and helped me when I was stranded at school last year, so I can't confirm if anything was done improperly. I'm not a mechanic by any means, more of a wiring guy.
The chatter only comes at certain RPM's in certain gears. It's so loud it's embarrassing when I have passengers. That's even over a decently loud exhaust. I'm pretty good friends with my mechanic, so I didn't want to put him through the trouble of checking it all out, but now I'm thinking it's a good idea. As far as the transmission goes, I only grind between 1-2 and that's only when I'm pushing it hard.

Chattering is generally a sign of a worn flywheel or clutch disc or a clutch contaminated with oil or grease.

Oh wow, all this time I thought it was the transmission. I'll definitely take a look at it then. Thanks

check your pilot bearing... its a little bearing that is in the middle of your flywheel. it supports the mainshaft coming out of the tranny. those things will make a wild noise if there bad... just a thought, but if its a chatter or metal on metal tapping noise ur hearing you might wanna look into ur clutch and flywheel.

Re: After swap, a lot of chatter coming from transmission/clutch
Nope, OEM flywheel. I got the flywheel and clutch replaced approximately 20,000 miles ago or less, so they shouldn't be bad already should they?
Also, I'm bringing this thread back b/c I was curious if this problem could be related to bogging I am experiencing? Especially when cold, the low RPMs are quite sluggish. I expect them to be a little bit slow since I'm running a 3-stage d15b, but sometimes it bogs out of nowhere at a random RPM. I've got new plugs and wires, no CEL. It runs strong at higher RPMs so I'm assuming the dizzy is ok. It was working fine on my y7 before the swap in June.
Thx for replies

Naw man chatter from your tranny and bogging out are completely different problems. If you bogging it's either a. Fuel b. Air c. Ecu (which is unlikely)
