I am in the market for a reliable, economical car for about 3000 + or - a few hundred. I found some Civic eg's in the paper that seemed to be good.
--96 (not eg?) Civic 77k miles, 5 spd, ac/cd player, 4000 or bo.
--94 Civic 118k miles, 60k on a replacement engine, 5spd, 4door, 3000.
--93 124k miles, 5 spd, good condition, 4door, 2600.
I know basically nothing about civics, like models and such. What would you reccomend that I look at when I go check these cars out?

2. it's gonna be YOUR car, you should pick what you like, go look at them, try a few different styles (i.e. hatch, coupe and sedan), read up on trim packages on the board and don't forget my favorite Civic, the del Sol

 

As far as reliability, usually the less miles the better. I'd ask for receipts on maintenance, body work etc... Have the vehicle checked out by a reputable shop. See the general condition of the car. Garaged? Beat up? I've seen many EG's with the head gasket leaking oil. ( usually on the firewall side) The 96 has 77k miles. Note that a t-belt service is due at 90k... *though Honda may have changed the mileage. But it is 8 years old. It needs a new t-belt and service. The others <U>should</U> have already been done. And after all that and more,...CaptivaBlue is right...It is your choice.
