Default H22 bogs when VTEC hits at WOT

I just did an H22 in a 90 Hatch and when i floor it, the car is fine until it hits VTEC, then it just bogs real bad. If i half throttle it, VTEC kicks in and its goes all the way to redline. Can't figure it out because i have no check engine lights at all, and everything is wired up fine. Can someone help, or if you've had this problem, what fixed it. Thanks

can you list any other maods that you might have. To me it sounds as if you are running to rich in the crossover

what ecu and what gas are you running...sounds like maybe the knock sensor is kicking in and pulling timing at WOT. you don't get a CEL when that happens because the KS is doing it's job

What conditions will make the knock sensor pull timing?

Here's the thing, I am running a remapped p28 ecu, so it's not reading the knock sensor, there are no mods on the car at all, fuel pressure is at 38-40 at idle, and there are no CEL's at all.

satan_srv (6:57 PM 5/24/2004): the KS only listens for a certain frequency...and it doesn't do anything most of the time...it's only looking for a specific frequency of sound that detonation creates

Since the ecu can't read it, then that wouldn't be the case, right?

We were thinking that maybe the TPS was adjusted before we got the motor. Or that its not reading right at full throttle. But yet, no CEL!

if it doesn't read it then it's not the problem...however possibly at WOT your fuel and timing is crap and making the motor run funny.

What 'map' has it been remapped to? Most chip programs suck on h22as...I remember dynoing one on my stock motor and at the VTEC crossover from 5000-6000 the power curve was fucked and all wavy

When we got the motor, they sent an automatic P13, so that was useless. My friend had a chipped P28 from his B16, and let us borrow it. Im not sure how it was mapped, all i know is the fuel curve was messed with and the rev limit and vtec engagement. We also tried a P72, and it does the same thing.

okay you're using a chipped p28 from a 1.6 litre motor..see the problem? I could go one an don about the differences and why it's a really BAD IDEA.

Get a real P13 and stop ******* around, or at least borrow one to confirm that it's what you need.

Well, i've got a P28 chipped for an H22 coming in on Tuesday, so if the problem still persists, then it's not the ecu. Is the H22 that much different when it comes to sharing ecu's , like gsr's and b16's can share ecu's, and run fine. Is the H22 picky when it comes to Ecu's?

well gsr and b16 ecus are for 1.8L and 1.6L motors respectively... So .2L is not that much but using one of those ECUs on a 2.2 or 2.3 motor is quite a difference...

Well, hopefully that will fix the problem. Hope you guys are right, that would get rid of a lot of headache. It's all wired up perfect, so maybe it just needs the RIGHT ecu. We're working on it right now, and seeing if possibly the TPS is what's to blame, but we'll see.

plus injector sizing is way different on an H22a
