2000 Si
b16 stock bottom end
toda spec b cams, toda valve train, belt etc. (for a year now)
i check my valve clearances regularly, there are good.
timing is 17 degrees.
i want to go to the dyno....again
during the winter i noticed some smoke coming out my valve cover breather. maybe because it was crazy cold. dont know.
had some fuel supply problems, with my fpr, filter and injectors. just upgraded my entire fuel system so i know i have no fuel delivery problems when i go to the dyno.
but seems like untuned i cant extract any power in midrange and up top and feels like a big flat spot.
did the ghetto test. turned car on, took oil cap off. oil just squirts outta the valve cover, no smoke though. dont think it was like that last year, because didnt check.
there is no smoke coming out when i pull the dipstick out. i need a leak down test, but wanted to see if anyone has oil squirting out like that when removing the oil cap. idle seems smooth. thanks
oh yeah....compression is 200 across.

the spray coming out of the oil cap is just from the rockers and various other valvetrain components spinnging and rocking and just generally moving around inside the head as the motor runs.
the 'smoke' you saw when it was cold was probably just some sort of steam.

THANK YOU!!
i would think its normal regardless whether i have big cams or not. it doesnt do it on my friends b16 with stock cams though.
anyway, does anyone ever clean out the pcv valve canaster behind the block?? i changed my valve cover gasket when i put my cams in and was thinking if taking the cover off regularly doesnt hold a seal as well as the valve cover grommets. oil just pushes its way past these areas. thanks
