Quick question about engine bay cleaning
Has anyone had any problems with their engine starting after cleaning out their engines with gunk- or engine bright foam. I know that i should cover both the distributor cap and throttle body, but is there anywhere else that water can sneak in that i should know about and cover? and also for the throttle body they mean to just cover the opening that the air intake is attatched to right so i don't get hydro-lock when i start the car?

Yes, cover them as well. Plastic bags from the grocery store work quite well for this task. Don't get carried away with engine bay cleaner/degreaser.

You don't need to worry about those. If you want to, you can disconnect your battery, but you don't have to. Just put some tape over your distributer seam, and don't spray too hard where the spark plug holes are.
You can go nuts with the water everywhere else. Spray the battery, alternator, wires, harness, anything and everything. You'll be fine. Just let everything dry nicely after you're done.

Thank you all for the help- i am now done with my successful engine cleaning and it started and ran fine first try. I checked the distributor and intake and no water had got into either w/ the simple cling-wrap and rubber band technique.
