I plan on purchasing Brembo Blanks, and I am having a hard time deciding on a pad. I am just a street driver, but will see some hard braking once in a while. I just want to be able to stop well. I have a vx hatch with rear drums. I plan on doing rear discs, but my front rotors are glazed and beggining to warp. So any feedback on either of these would be well appreciated. Thanks.

 

i have the ultimates and they are good. my friend also has the ultimates but he says his hawks were better. he also said the hawks made more noise. but i have no complaints with the ultimates.

 

How about OEM Honda brake pads? Less dust than the other aftermarket brake pads and 100% OEM quality.

Street car use OEM, not as much dust, you wont ever encounter fade.

The Axxis ultimates are excellent on street, but dust a lot. Noise free however.

If you ever get the ***** to run it on a road course, the Axxis ultimates and some ATE or Motul RBF600 fluid will give you fade free performance for the day.

 

I would recommend Carbotech, that is if you don't mind the dust, but their pads are nothing short of amazing.

Eh... that's not really true, as I have Ultimates and Super Blue and the pads got too hot about 20 minutes into a session and my braking ability went way down.

Great street/autox pad but not a track pad.

 

I'm using HP+ they dust like a ****, but they work amazingly well and I haven't heard a squeak out of them yet.

 

I've been using the ultimates for a few years now. I have them on both my hatch and m3. They do dust a bit but nothing terrible infact i've found them to dust less then OE pads especially BMW OE pads. If less/no noise is importants to you these are great in that department.

 

I'm running Brembo Blanks/Axxis Ultimate/ATE fluid.. pretty good stuff.

ok, seems like nobody here has actually run both the ultimates and the hawks. I have and so I will give you my review.

Hawk has two types of bads that are suited to street use.

HP+ and the HPS

HP+ are very agressive, in fact the bite will catch you off guard once they are broken in. They dust, they make some serious noise (you sound like a bus when braking if the pads aren't up temperature) These pads love heat, the more you give 'em the more they brake.

HPS are a street pads that can handle occaional track use (HP+ are more track pads that can handle street) they don't too much, brake well (braking is more linear and less temperature dependant than the HP+) they don't make much noise. A great overall pad.

Axxis Ultimate are almost identical to the HPS....although the price and availabilty is far more interesting for the ultimates.

I run HP+ in the summer for track and street, for the fall I use the ultimates and in winter I use Metal Master.

My car (EK Hatch) with 4 wheeel disk, 11 inch up front(ITR calipers), stainless lines, 1" master, and Motul RBF 600 never, ever, ever runs out of brakes....even after 60 straight minutes of lapping (no cooling period) on an extremely technical track.

So take what I said as you wish, this is from my own personal experience with all these pads.
