launching a auto ex
No matter what you do you will shorten the life of your tranny. The correct way to launch your auto is to power brake.
Put your left foot on the brake and press down HARD. Then apply gas with your right foot. The point of this is that the engines RPM go up but the car is not moving. When the light goes green let off the brake and mash the gas down all the way.

Sure, you can do that if you feel like replacing it in a month.
GetawayInMoscow got it on the head. Put your foot on the brake, apply some gas, about 1500 rpm, the torque converter will wind up, then let off the brake and mash the gas simutaneously, and off you go.
FYI You are going to run like 18's, seems like a lost cause if you ask me.

Not too much. Dont take it above ~2,000 rpm. You are just going to burn up something.

haha jeff. my friend did that to his sisters camry and after a couple of netural drops it broke the front engine mount.
a safe way to "launch" in an auto is leave it either in D or 1st and rev around 1.5k and when you see the Green you slam on the gas and jump off the brake.

Swap in a 5 speed transmission.. its not that hard and in the long run it will be worth it.
