When did you stock shocks/springs start getting worn?
My car has around 35K on it and the ride is super bouncy. I am pretty sure I need new shocks, but I wanted to see how long everyone else went before replacing theirs.
I do most of my driving in DC, BTW.

I now have 48,ooo and I think they are a bit soft but nothing yet to cause me to replace. Don't forget I drive with in the NYC limit most of the time and they do get used rather hard.
I say I have maybe 20,ooo more before they are done.

my car has 63k miles and seem ready to be replaced as the ride isn't as firm as new. i plan to retain the oem springs but put them on bilstein sport dampers which supposedly has firmer valving and a 10mm lower perch.
67K and mine feel done. Doesnt feel settled in the uphill esses at all
Revalved Konis on the way... not sure when I will get them though.

I bought my car with 40k on the clock over 2 years ago, and recently just turned 75k... Car still rides firm and handles as good as it did when i first purchased it. This is also on extra crappy Ohio roads too

just replaced my OEM shocks with Bilstein Sports after 79K hard street miles - car feels 100x better...
I think my shocks started going downhill around 70,000 miles or so, and got progressively worse.
Still running stock springs though, they kickass.

Mine had 43k when I took them off - and 10 track events.
I borrowed Trey's suspension with less than 20k on it and no events - amazing difference. Almost felt like another suspension.

stock shocks here, with H&R sport springs, 50K. My shocks feel like crap, mushy and not solid at all. Last november at Lime Rock, coming down the hill and turning to the right (I forget the name of the turn
) it felt like my car was top heavy and the rear end sinking to the ground, giving the feeling I was gonna tip over into a barrel roll. Scary stuff.

I'd rather have stock than most of the Tein products - except RE, RS, and super function. Stock is REALLY good - the more I drive on it after having the JICs, I realize how very competent the stock setup can be.

About 45K I noticed them loosing their edge (momentary wheel lock on sudden stops - autocrossing). Still good, but not like new. Had them on up until 85K and I think they were starting to get bouncy.
i think anybody who regularly autox/hpde the car and has over 50k miles would be suprised how loose their oem dampers are if they drove them back to back with brand new oem units. my car feels fine too, but it's not rock firm like it was new.

ryan, i had a friend with a R that had the same setup, hr sport springs with oem dampers. he used to think it was a great setup until he went back to the oem springs. he then realized the hr springs were too low/stiff for the oem dampers and he fell in love with the car again with the oem springs.
