Default Aluminized Steel Piping?

I am going to be using aluminized steel piping for my intercooler/charge pipes from JC Whitney. I'll be following the directions for the piping from here. http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yele....html

Since I don't want to have to use 9 silicon hose connectors, I will be having some of it welded together. Won't the aluminum coating blow off near the welds and then rust?

I hope not. Half of my piping is going to be aluminized.

It'll be fine - not the lightest and most rust resistant, but it's fine. The welds will probabably rust long before the piping anyway. My buddy painted his and all is fine.

I guess I might just paint it, although I like the steel color. Maybe I can find a good high temp paint similar to it.

Definitely paint it. I've had mine on for a month or two and the welds are already starting to rust. The piping is good though.

Aluminized steel is cheaper and easier to work with (cheaper to weld).

if you dont want the welds to rust, just use stainless 308 MIG wire....works for me lol

I don't have a MIG welder, but I'll keep that in mind wherever I take the piping to be welded. Thanks.

I'd use aluminum if I had the right equipment, but I have a mig (w/o a spool gun for AL) at my disposal. So I just use what I have. I drive an accord anyway, it's not like I'm too concerned about weight

I m using the same stuff, I had Tony1 weld mine in a couple places to keep the couplers to a minimum, then I painted it with some 500vht stuff from Walmart and it looks fine.
