Default headgasket bore size question

just a quick question for engine builders out there...

I called up Cometic this past week and I was asking about a 77mm d16 headgasket (the bore of the motor is 77mm). Jason from Cometic recommended I go with a 78mm bore gasket. That kinda seems odd to me because I thought the gasket bore size had to match the block bore size. The reason I'm inquiring is because I've ordered a 77mm d16 hg from 2 months ago and still hasn't gotten here. I am carless and I need to get it running ASAP and I'm sure during calling around I heard at least one person say they have a 78mm gasket IN STOCK which would be good if I can run that. So the question again is... is it SAFE to run a 78mm bore gasket on a 77mm bore motor? just more background it's a 77mm GE sleeved D16Z6 block with a Y8 head. The motor will be seeing high boost soon so that's important.

Thanks in advance.
Marc

The 78 would probably work ok but a 77 or even 77.5 would be better. The more area you get BETWEEN the cylinders with your gasket, the better off you are.
