Default need help with tune up!!

Ok so i got my new wire set and a new distributer cap, i need to get the rotor off but the screw that holds it in is not accessable. i was wondering if i can crank the car with the cap and wires off so that the rotor turns so i can get to the screw??? Can i do that safely?? Please let me know thanks.
