Reusing Piston rings...
I wouldn't chance reusing rings. Thats one of those things that you should replace any time the pistons are out. Bearings are something you should replace as well.
not changing the piston rings is like practically like not changing the water pump when you do a timing belt change....you just don't do it...you know why if you do this work yourself, it's just a pain in the *** to do one and not the other...

And yet no one mentioned that he may have to re-hone the block to make the new rings sit right. As long as you kept track of which rings that went into which cylinder, you will be ok.If you do use new rings, its a good idea to at least do a light hone to the block. If you mixed up the rings and have the slightest doubt of which goes where....then just get new ones.If you try to seat new rings without honing, the cylinders will glaze up sooner than normal.
i agree with aeolus. just make sure u put things back the way they came out. dont mix things up and ull be ok. if u dont mind honing the block then go ahead and get new rings. if uve never honed a block before make sure u use a flex hone which would be alot easier.
honing is not necessary when you replace rings...people say to do this, but omniman when he built his b16a he did not hone the cylinders, nor did i on my b20/vtec when i replaced the rings...just clean the cylinders very good and your fine...but dont use anything abrasive or it will scratch them

Im sure that slappin in new rings will work, but just how long will it last??Im assuming the guy wants maximum longevity.Tru,you might be able to get away with it sometimes, but why chance it?

Sorry I didn't put much more detail into my post. The rings are only 500 miles old, and the engine the rings came from spun a bearing beforeit had a change to be raced on. BTW, I will be honing.
Thanks!
