Default Exhaust Question

Hello,
I will be purchasing a 95 prelude vtec h22 as soon as i sell my current car, and i was wondering, for most hp gain on all motor, with an exhaust how big should the pipe be? i am having it custom made, so i was thinkign of goin with the 60mm pipe that greddy uses, something like 2" 3/16ths. i was wondering if that would give the most hp gain, ill probably be buying a header and possibly a high flow cat if needed.
thanks
bryan

umm for most hp gain on all motor i think that means n/a i would go w/2 1/4 inch piping 3 if you want to go turbo.

yeah, for now i plan on going all motor, that will last like 160k mi, and hten i think ill do a turbo rebuild, i know 2.5+ is for turbo and 2 1/4 inch is non turbo in terms of gain. but what i was wondering is 2 3/16ths (greddy size) better than 2 1/4. or am i stupid and they are the same size.
thanks

as far as i know 2.5 inch piping can actually make you lose horsepower becasue theres not enough backpressure, you only gain when you have a turbo. thats on my current car though, i could be wrong. i think this is a general idea though.

it would probably benefit you if you were running nitrous as well

2.5 piping doesnt make you loose any hp, going up to 3in without boost
would be a mistake but 2.5 should be fine. I have greddy evo and an very
satisfied but if I had it to do over again I would go with a custom 2.5 setup,
its cheaper and as effective. Kteller8 sells 2.5 kits i think and Dave from
SMSP suggested 2.5 as well and he makes one hell of a header so I will go
ahead and trust his taste in exhaust.

two and 3/16 is one 16th smaller than 2 1/4...go with 2.5 for all motor you'll lose low end torque but get more top end .

haha.. you DONT want backpressure...

if 2.25" is the way to go on a b16, i would think .6 more liters would call for a little bigger.. I would go with 2.5"
