please... no caps. Reverse loss is common on prelude trannies, it also has an easy fix. I believe it's just jamming it in really hard into Reverse, search it and you can make sure.

I don't think ramming it in reverse will fix the problem. But if it does let me know. I am locked out of reverse also and have tried that and it didn't work. If you disengage the clutch slightly and give it some gas it pushes in a little farther, but than you will probably hear a nasty sound you don't want to hear come from your lude ever again. So I stopped trying that technique. There has been some threads about a way to "work" out the kinks in the syncros but I don't think that is too healthy on the transmission.

Hey man, I've had the exact same problem with my 93 srv, couldnt get it into reverse, so i changed the tranny fluid and got the tranny up to temperature and then smoothly played with the reverse gear until she slipped right in, its happened to me twice now so i might take the tranny apart if it happens again, but yeah change the fluid and then just play with it until it works again!
I DONT THINK JAMMING IT IN THERE WORKED BUT IM GOING TO HAVE TO TRY TO CHANGE THE OIL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, I ASKED MY UNCLE ABOUT IT AND HE HAS NO CLUE ABOUT WHAT HAPPEND HE SAID THERE MIGHT BE A BUSHING IN THERE BUT HE DOESNT KNOW BC IT WAS TOO DARK TO SEE, DAMN HONDA NEED TO FIX THIS **** FOR FREE THATS BS, WAS THERE ANY RECALLS FOR THE PRELUDE TRANNY OR SOMETHING ?

Don't think so man. By the way, you might have a bad 5th/reverse syncro.

All preludes will eventually do this, its usually because of the abuse 5th gear takes when you engage it.. It "grinds" spurs onto the face of the selector ring thus not allowing it to go back into reverse.. Only fix is to rebuild 5th gear, or get a new tranny, either way it will cost about the same..
