Those of you with the JDM front end conversion...how much did YOU pay
I am guessing that a lot of people get it because they've had a frontal accident. So, exactly how does it work? I saw on godspeed's site it was 3,000. So, how much did insurance cover, and how much came from your own pocket? i know everyone's insurance and claims are different but I just want to get a general idea

Report to the police and file a claim. The kit plus a total paint of your car would be $5000 at least.
An entirely keyed car should recover around $1800 for the whole car....make sure every fender/door, and yes, the top too to be keyed, just don't make it look so obvious.

So, basically you're encouraging insurance fraud. This is good.... keep everyone's rates high. Jacka$$!!!

With a keyed side, your best bet is to key your whole car...if you can't do it, have a friend do it.

He already got one side of his car and hood keyed up yesterday by haters if you read his other post. This is already a $1000 job anyway. And we ALL know that painting a specific part of your car will most often mismatch with the factory paint. So what if we ask another $1000 from the insurance? We already paid enough for our premiums that we should get something back when things like this happens.
BTW, insurance will not go higher on a specific car because it's keyed. It only goes up when the specific car gets stolen too often or too many involvement in accident due to misuse of speed.
There are random keyed car happenning in my neighborhood ALL the time! Some kid just like to walk down the sidewalk with a key in his hand and scratch the entire block of cars park on street. I can hardly imagine a national rise of insurance rate for 1988 Toyota Corolla because it was keyed and asked for a tiny amount from the filthy insurance companies.

I saw that, but it doesn't change my observation.
Committing a crime to address another crime just leads to a complete breakdown of society.
And vengeance and redress, in the law, belong to the Crown and People, not you as an individual.
I feel very sorry for the individual whose car was keyed, but that doesn't change my observation about obeying the law.

We paid so much for insurance and yet when we really needed them to cover our cost, we end up getting 70 or 80% of what's worth. Is there any law or social order in such rip offs? I tried to recover $500 from my insurance company and they send me to court 3 times with the first 2 not showing the lawyer to have me quit, and at the end some wise-*** lawyer who seems like friend of the judge turned me down. Where is the social order?
I have no pity for insurance company, they make billions a year and still not paying 100% of most damages. Just because I am under 25, then I have to paid high premiums for car insurance?....where is the fairness? For the two years I own the car, I already paid...not kidding $9000 for insurance and I baby my car and drive safer than I drive a van. So who here suffers from high rates when most of you enjoy at most $3000 annual rate? Maybe you should come to NY and deal with the insurance here and you might change your perspective. It's a different world here from PA to NY. You play it right and you will end up suffering.
My reply is in a form of joke, but you guys took it seriously. Being honest, if you end up with a keyed car in NY, and you goto some shop you know, they will recommend you to do some more damage to it to have some lilttle more claim. And that's the only chance to recover 100% fee for a reasonable quality repair. New Yorkers play the "game of rip-offs" everyday, you rip me off one way, I rip you off back another way...it's ugly but that's the way it is, we all live in the color of grey in this city.

I honestly do not think that continuing to talk about this will resolve it. I see no chance of changing your opinion. And you have no chance of changing mine.

wow...all i wanted to know was how much someone paid for a JDM conversion after insurance jeez lol
Some advice on shopping for front end conversions:
Don't be fooled by a lowball price. You would be surprised at how many ppl call me after getting one from anotherhondaplace.com and are "missing" key parts like bumper support, badges, sidemarkers, front lip...etc. We sell our kit for about $3200 shipped, give or take a few $$$, and that includes ALL OEM HONDA parts (not factory like parts). Just remember, you get what you pay for. Good luck.

Insurance companies are here to make money. THEY ARE NOT SALVATION ARMY!!!!!!!!!!! I would only go claim them when I really have to, they tend to come back and hunt you. They are trying to make a profit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REMEMBER THAT. IN YOUR CASE, JUST ASK IF THEY WILL PAY FOR YOUR KEYED DAMAGE.
hey I totally agree with you neomugen... I have never made a claim in my life.. so if i had to.. you better believe im am going to get my moneys worth... im not bending over for the insurance co. ".. I AM NO ONES BITCH !!.."
.. Its prob better if you just didnt post stuff like that, because not everyone agrees.. and also.. you never know who is reading the stuff on here.

Gas stations can't all just decide to raise there prices for the hell of it. It's against the law. Insurance companies are regulated, but not as much as they should be. They make too much money. The government requires you to have insurance if you drive, then lets insurance companies all raise their rates to make more money. How do I know this? I don't, I'm talking out of my ***, but all I know is that I give the insurance company way more than the service and peace of mind I get in return.
You want quotes?
"What goes around comes around"-Some smart guy
If you're gonna stick me in the *** with insurance rates, you're damn bloody right I'm going to have you pay for that extra door ding, scratch, or curbed rim that didn't happen in the accident.
"You get what you pay for"-50 different ppl on H-T
And dammit, I'll take what I feel I've payed for.
I don't think insurance fraud is "okay", and I dont' believe in setting cars on fire for claims, but if everyone obeyed the written laws 100% percent of the time, wouldn't be here today.

what i dont understand is that if the insurance does pay for damages, and its not your fault in the first place, why does the rate increase? In the end, they'll be able to break even w/ your claim somewhere in the future.
Because insurance could be a no-fault thing.
Your rates go up because you are prone to get payment from them, so you should pay more, like lets say i got into a lot of accidents, none of which were my fault...they see me as a high risk because i just happen to always be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Who's fault it is will be useful for civial court though.

I won't say more and it's right that everyone has their own borders. Get claim from your Insurance is just getting back your share, it should be as simple as a college fund. No one is geting hurt here except for Toda.
Anyway, my friend's BMW got keyed sideway like Toda except the hood for blocking someone car for unloading funitures. The car can get out no problem with 2-3 reverse and turn, but of course, after that's done keying is always the RIGHT way to protest. He quoted from a price of $800 for the paint and filed a police report. The insurance guy came and guess what?
He said the front fender and rear fender scratch is not "too bad" and should be "fix easily" with compound wax....and promised to give a $500 for the two doors. (my wish saying to the insurance guy : oh yeah!?! How about I scratch your face and sooth it out with Jergens?)
No one has heard of any insurance company going bankrupt, they just expand and new ones like Geico pops out every other month. It's true not to claim small matter from insurance and they will get you back.....but what if someone, a student like me that can't afford an instant $1000? Should I drive around with a keyed car to show everyone that I am a victim of vandalism?

Oh yeah? How about you drive a straightline and I, from the opposite direction suddenly swirl at you on 1-lane two way streets because I have to change my cassette? It's your fault not to avoid me, because I am entitled to my rights for changing cassette while driving....
This kind of at fault percentage laws were estbalished by the Insurance companies, not the traffic bureau. And the government in my state loves to give insurance company their application of higher rate as if their belly is not fat enough...hell, for all 4 agency I've know, they all drive at least 2 Euro-imports in their house...Traveler, Country Farm, Progressive, now All-State. I am sure they will get some shinny whole body McLaren paints if their side mirrors gets scratched...
Insurance fraud for stealing your own car, setting it on fire, self-directed accident =
Some self-protection for getting the right amount of expected payment, ie key in the scartch that's not deep enough...

You sway left and right, squeeze yourself on the sidewalk to let the ambulance screaming pass you with a crowd of cars at red light looking like being run through by a tornado. (backgroud music playing in Harp) It's all worth it! You are doing your part to save a life!!!....and just to find out the ambulance stops not too far ahead at the 7-11 to pick up a pack of cigarette?

Sweet saying. I think even the judge will speed through school zone once in their life. And police officers running through red light and speeding with no emergency just the adrenaline rush to the Donkin Donuts....yeah! I never seen that happen before!

Toda, since you are in Buffo. Your best bet for JDM conversion is head to Boston and let Mike to it: TypeRMSM.
Look at the site: http://www.ipsracing.com
click on "body kits" then click on "jdm conversion"
I dont know the exact price, but I rather pay a bit more to have the car comfortably rest in the hands of an experienced H-T member.
