high idel

Default high idel

well after replacing the headgasket in my 88 dx, the engine has a high idel. and i cant find my Haynes manuel, so i figued i would post. anyone know a way i can fix this? and yes i did search but it was no help

check to see if your throttle cable is adjusted too tight. i recently learned it must by adjusted WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. otherwise, when the engine is off, the dashpot pushes the throttle open a bit, so if you adjust it then, it will be too tight.

but how high? if its like 3000rpm high, then you probably have a vac leak, either a bad vac hose or cracked intake manifold gasket.

if you took the throttle cable off....make sure you check your TPS voltages, cause that will really screw with your idle!
