Default Jumping ECU on OBD2 Prelude to advance/retard timing?

I found a process to "jump" the OBD2 ecu's to where you can advance/retard the timing, but this was done on an OBD2 Teg LS, and I was wondering if there is anything that would prevent you from doing this to an OBD2 H22A4. so if you know if there is a reason that ths wont work post some info, thanks guys.

It is the exact same process that you use to adjust the timing at the distributer on an OBD1 car, only you have to jump the ecu by, putting a paperclip in the diagnostics connector, and they did this on an OBD2 LS, there is a whole writeup on team-integra.nethttp://www.team-integra.net/se...ID=60, so go on there if you need the whole process. All I need to know, is if there would be any difference in doing this with an h22 or a b18b.

You can jump the ignition module service connector to check base timing on a OBD2 lude, but even if you notch the distributor bracket, you are SOL.

BTW, if you want to link people to an article, copy and paste if the page requires a login.
I doubt anyone here wants to sign up for team integra just to read that.

you can jump it, but its in a different location then the teg, and stock ecu won't allow big timing changes

all i know is that a lot of people say to jump the scs before adjusting timing. but i have adjusted timing on hondas for a long time and also done this on the dyno. i have never jumped the scs connector to do so. it is not nescessary.

sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. i searched with no luck.

I dont understand how this guy is gonna retard timing with his dissy. my h22a4 dissy is not adjustable its fixed and timing is all controled by the ecu.
I need to pull 3 degrees for n2o. How?
Im using a obd2 ecu, the 96 p13.
Anyone know how i can retard timing?

thats not an option. id rather just hook up the obd1 ecu.
how would that retard timing anyway?
the knock retards... dunno what your getting at???

is there any way to retard? other then cam gears?

Ignition and Cam Timing are 2 different stories.....
How much nitrous are you going to run?
I was using an MSD DIG6 back in the day to do it...
Im selling 2 of them if youre interested....

Get it on the Dyno with 1 step colder plugs and go from there......
i personally don't think timing retard should be required but everyones setups are different. I was running an 80 shot-wet with no timing retard and no detonation. I didn't use the MSD to retard until I started using a 100 shot.
I also suggest starting with a 50 shot so you can learn how to use it, and then you can always upgrade from there. It only takes a couple of minutes to change jets.
You have more fun longer going from a 50 to 60 to 75 shot....
