just changed destributor and smoke poured out of my intake ---obdo
i got my car top dead center and cranked it over and ran fine for about 10 seconds, after that the check engine light came on so i shut it off, and tried to crank it over again and smoke just strait poured out of my intake, my ecu flashes 8 times which means my car isnt top dead center, but i know it is cause i just did it, i dont know whats wrong, please help i need to have it running by this weekend . thanks
code eight is the tdc sensor and because it is not recognising the the signal it is firing at the wrong time the best thing to do is test the sensor A) with the wires disconnected and measuring for continuity between the wires and measuring to ground from one wire to known good ground, B) after that while cranking the engine you need to put the leads from the multimeter, one on the pos(+) of the sensor and one on the neg(+) of the tdc sensor with the multimeter function on AC voltage and it should read .5vAC to as much as 10vAC because it makes its own voltage.
