Default why does everyone run their compressor side on the passenger side????

Almost every car I see have the airfilter coming under and around the clutch slave cylnder and the coolant hoses, plus the downpipe is routed down and over the oil pan.

wouldnt it make more sense to have the turbine/downpipe side on the passenger side?

this way the downpipe is a straight shot under the oil pan gap, and the compressor side has tons of room for the air filter.

people run it both ways for different reasons. I like mine on the driver side too.

Because most manifolds are built that way. Wanna know why? Because most engine bays are space limited in the same way. That's why. I personally could do it like that but I don't think the turbo would fit very well.

a/c is overrated...my compressor is on the drivers side, and I have a 3" DP...

It depends on the car too. On the DA the cross member is such that it is easiest to run the turbo with compressor on the passengers side so the downpipe goes out the drivers side of the turbo and bends back under the turbo.

I had AC when I first got my car, and I didn't use it at all during the summer. So when my turbo kit went on the AC came off lol.

I'm 90% certain the turbine housing would hit my radiator if I flipped it around.

Same here. Mine was hitting the block and radiator fan shroud at the same time.

I want to run the same thing. Can you give me details on your setup? Mainly what manifold and DP you are using. Thanks!

unless the car has a full length rad or AC, i prefer to have the compressor on the driver's side....less tangle of pipes (exhaust /charge)

From what people have told me my setup should be pretty nice. it should be done about june 15 i hope. I'll have A video, dyno graphs and pictures.
The manifold im using is Tinker219(Cody) Sidewinder steel manifold with a 3in DP.
From what he said and he's seen and tested that its a really good manifold. It spools faster then his SST manifold by like 400rpms. PLus i get to keep AC! I cant stand North Carolina's Changing Temps.

For me I will put it the way the manifold was made for. I have the RevHard cast manifold and if you bolt the turbo with the compressor on the driver side you would notice that the weight of the turbo is almost doubled on your head cause of the angle its in.

then if you put the compressor side towards the passenger side you would notice that the weight is more centered.

Am I making any sense?? I need sleep.......

It depends on what your manifold is made for, I try to put as less stress on the manifold/head as possible. People make a brace on their manifolds for a reason and I want to make one for my mani just in case.

How's your turbo thing going?? did you fix it?
