Default Brake proportioning valve (bpv)

I just got rid of my drums on my 88 hf and put on 91si brakes. does anyone know if it you have to change the bpv? I want to know before i do all the brake fluid and everything so i dont have to do it again.

If i do need one is it only out a 91 crx si, or can i use it from another 4 wheel disc honda or acura.

thanks

I was told yes. To be safe I went with the 91 crx si prop valve and the car brakes fine to date.

I did not change my bpv when I did my conversion and all is well...

To be fair though, I am running different compounds of pads in the front and rear.(Hawk HP front and HP Plus in the rear)

I am also looking for a little more bite from the rear then you may be looking for...

My buddy changed out brakes in his EG w/o the prop valve. Then a few weeks later he put in one from an Integra. It's like night and day. Disc brakes operate under more PSI, I believe. Therefore they won't feel as affective until the valve is swapped.

40/40 valve is waht you want. you have a 40/30 now.

You may also want to upgrade to the 15/16 MC as well.

If you do rear discs get the Integra prop valve. I ran without one for a couple days and braking was equally shitty as it was before. After swapping out the valve it was fine.

I just picked up everything including the 15/16, prop. valve, booster and complete rear suspension from a '91 teg non-abs. I got it all for $300 from a local wrecker. I've got some top secret stuff in the works for that. I'll definitely post pics when it's finished.

Everybody always says get the 4040 valve.

I have a valve off of a CRX SI all discs and it's a 2040.

The 4040 is for the DA Integra with the bigger front brakes and CRX size rears.

Right?

I intend to run the 4040 with the bigger brakes on the front and the discs on the rear.

Well mine with drums on the rear is 3040 right now.. So i dont really know what the numbers mean.

You can get the 15/16 MC from a 90,91 Integra. Same with the 4040 valve. Integra rear brakes are bigger then stock Crx rear brakes? Right?. Thats why you should upgrade the Valve.
