Detonation issues and starting problems..i think i may have figured it out..need opinions
before i go ripping anything apart on my car again..need some opinions
car won't start randomly and detonates randomly
replaced fuel filter 15k ago, new wires plugs cap and rotor 1k ago
my hypothesis is the fuel pump but since its not a fun job to do i want to make sure it is the problem.
and if it is the fuel pump can i run an upgraded fuel pump on a stock engine so i dont buy pats twice.

Yes you can replace the fuel pump with an upgraded one on a stock engine. It's actually an easy job. If you go with a high pressure pump you may want to get an adjustable fpr to get the pressure down at idle.
still detonating a bit but i think i overtorqued my head when i put in the new head gasket...
starting problem was figured out not to be th fule pump but the O2 sensor was at fault. finally got an ecu code for it. runs ok now but not perfect after installing a random 4 wire O2 i had laying around.
hope someone finds this useful since noone answers questions on this board
