Default Yet another code 43 has me stumped sorta thread....

Alrighty let me start and say i got a code 43 today right before i had to go work, started the car and the code came right up. The car idled terrible jumped up and down and then died. I started it again and it did the same. So i said hey 3rd times the charm and started it again, well this time it idles a little bit longer and then just died. I cant even keep the car running with my foot on the gas, basically just chokes i guess. So i tried to start it again and nothing, would start at all. Fuel pump did prime though and i did have fuel pressue.

So on to my questions i know it can be o2, injectors, fuel filter, fuel pump etc... How does one check the fuel pump, i have fuel pressure 43psi +- 3 psi (stock pump and stock reg). I can also hear the pump priming, i had a pump go out before and it just didnt do anything. So i dont think the pump is out. Alrighty i know how to check the o2 sensor to see if its working and it probably a good time to replace it anyways but do my symtoms sounds like o2 related. Would the o2 keep the car from starting, i know for a fact i drove around once with it complety disconnected.

This is basically an open ended problem could be just about anything from fuel system to the ignition. So untill tommorow i just have to sit here and think about it

Check all plugs (TSP sensor) and check your vacum line

The tps is fine i check the voltage and all checks out fine, also all vaccum lines are peachy. I replaced the line going to the fpr for ***** and giggles also.

Same thing happened to me. Will the car run better if you clear the engine light? If so, then it's your o2.

I reset the ECU and it runs for about 20 seconds then idles like *** and dies. I Tried it again while holding the gas and it just idles really low and dies again. I dont know maybe the fuel pump isnt holding pressure while the car is on, but the car only runs for a few seconds using the fuel in the lines. I dont know any idea?

try and go to the back of your car and see if the exhaust smells rich, if it doesnt try lightly crimping the return line off your FPR to increase fuel pressure...
BUT LIGHTLY CRIMP it. Dont completely block it off. This can overrun your pump and burn it out if you "deadhead" it for too long...
When the engine is cold it ignores the o2 sensor till it goes to closed loop...Does it happen when the engine is warm too or just cold like in the mornings?

What do your plugs look like?
How many miles are on your injectors?

To start off i cant get the car to run long enough to get warm. I'll check the plugs in the morning. The injectors were cleaned last summer.

maybe try unplugging the o2 sensor to let the ecu use its default values?

good luck!!!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the fuel filter.

This just keeps getting better, i'm going to check plugs and i notived i nice rip in the boot of my ignition wires. (msd wires) So anyways i got another set of wires, and the car is still acting the same. So now i'm wondering if my dizzy took a dump. So i'm pretty sure the number 1 wire was arcing in the spark plug hole, but then with the new wires it acts the same. This is one hell of a mess

I actually did that and it acted the same.

I actually replaced it last month.

I thought code 43 is fuel system related but it sounds like your fuel system is ok...
Do you have any extra spark plugs you could test and see if your getting spark while cranking and while its running before it dies out...
Kinda leaning towards a bad ignition coil or possibly an igniter...Not to mention whatever is causing your code 43(fuel system?)

also just to rule out your IACV, try unplugging it and then starting your car. You may have to feather the gas to keep it running...
running out of ideas....You can test your ignition coil if you have a multimeter

Code 43 is fuel related, but its so open ended it sucks. Basically the way i think it works is if anything affects the a/f long enough it will throw the code. So first off i had the busted wire, meaning weaker spark to the that one plug if there was any really spark going to the plug. On top of that something else is dead, i'm gonna play with it more tommorow and update everybody with my findings.

UPDATE

So today i started digging into everything, first off i started the car and watched the Fuel pressure while it was idleing. For about the first 20-30 seconds it was at 45psi then as soon as it started idling rough low and behold the fuel presue is jumping from 20-30psi. So i started going through the fuel system (pump, filter, injectors etc) and well they all have a **** brown coating on them. Looks like something contaminated the gas tank.... The tampon dealy on the pump has a coating of that stuff, and the inside of the rail had it also. So basically now i need to figure out how the **** crap could of gotten in the tank...
