Dipstick question from the noob
Ok, i realize this is such a noob question and i hesitate asking ti because of that but here goes. I recently bought a LS and when i went to check the oil i found no line showing the level at which the oil should be. Am i just ignorant or what? Where should the oil level be on the LS dipstick?
Thanks for the help

okay...noob question add-on. I don't kno how to work my dipstick, lol. (I know how to change my oil but I can't read my dipstick. I'm so retarded -____-).
I know the bottom two dots are where the oil level's supposed to be at... but mine never shows any oil. I don't know if I'm putting it in wrong or what. I know there's oil there, because I tried it RIGHT after an oil change and STILL no oil showed up. There's a little cylindrical slot inside the dipstick place, is that for HOLDING the dipstick, or where the oil is actually measured?
Is the dipstick supposed to be pushed in more towards the left or the right? I need like... super-detailed instructions cuz no matter how I push it in, I never see any indication of oil on the dipstick.
N00b's truest moment is upon me.

ive got at least five sarcastic things i want to say, but ill give you a noob pass cus this is so basic i doubt its ever been covered - if your looking down at your motor in the front middle between the motor and the fans, theres your dip stick - its a piece of metal w a hoop coated in plastic on one end and two holes on the other end - as far as where it goes, theres only one spot, theres four pipes coming out of the front of the motor and in the middle theres a tiny hollow pipe(hopefully this is where you pulled the dip stick out of) and the stick should only go in one way - to check the oil you make sure the car is on level ground, and hasnt been runnig for about ten minutes - pull the dip stick out of the pipe or holder and wipe it clean, put the dip stick back in the afformentioned hole(its hard to line it up sometimes so make sure you actually get it in) it should basically go all the way in so only the plastis coated portion is sticking out(this may be where youre going wrong b/c it stops about an inch before the plastic and you need to give it a liitle push to make it go all the way in), pull out dip stick and you should have oil on the end like stated earlier in the post - if you dont then your at least two quarts low - you should have 4 to 4.5 quarts in it - damn im bored
