Default 96 cx.....mini me swap!!! please help me out a little bit!!!!

Hye guys ...l this research is for my friend.. he has a 96 civic cx and hes thinking about putting a vtec head on it and i have a couple questions ... and yes i did a search but i can norrow it down enough to my specific needs.... sooo ....

1. it would be easier to use a y8 head compared to a z6 head because the dizzy will bolt right up.. correct???

2. does he need the vtec dizzy or will his stock one be ok????

3. will his stock intake mani be ok or should he get a vtec intake mani???

4. what exact ecu whould he run in his car..

5. someone told me that vtec is electronicaly controlled and that u dont need to run an oil line... is this true???? i thought that u needed the oil pressure to engage the pin into the 3rd rocker???

6.. how many, and which wires need to be wired for vtec?(ill figure out where they go by looking at ecu pinouts)

please help me out guys ... i know some of you out there really know your **** so share the weath!!!!!

thanks
Joe

-- that is correct.

2. does he need the vtec dizzy or will his stock one be ok????

-- I always get confused with the OBD2 vtec & non-vtec sohc dizzy's head fitment, but I believe he can use a non-vtec dizzy on the Y8 head and it will bolt fully bolt up. Correct me if I'm wrong mini-me gurus...

3. will his stock intake mani be ok or should he get a vtec intake mani???

-- by all means, he should use the Y8 intake manifold!

4. what exact ecu whould he run in his car..

-- a 96-98 EX 5 speed ecu (P2P), or convert to OBD1 and use a P28 ecu.

5. someone told me that vtec is electronicaly controlled and that u dont need to run an oil line... is this true???? i thought that u needed the oil pressure to engage the pin into the 3rd rocker???

-- if you run a Y8 or Z6 head all of the oil pressure/feed etc, is integrated into the head & VTEC solenoid, no need to run any kind of external oil line....its not like an LS/VTEC.

6.. how many, and which wires need to be wired for vtec?(ill figure out where they go by looking at ecu pinouts)

-- There's 3 wires. 1 for the VTEC solenoid itself, and 2 for the VTEC pressure switch. Click on the TECHNET link in my signature and look under "ECU & Wiring" for the ecu pinout diagram for an OBD2a vehicle.

please help me out guys ... i know some of you out there really know your **** so share the weath!!!!!
